Experience Cave Living in Pure Comfort
Resting your head at night in the comfort of your own beautifully appointed cave room is an unforgettable experience. Viv's unique cave house, situated in Urgup, Cappadocia in central Turkey, is carved into the rock like many traditional homes in the region. From the house you have a beautiful view over Karagandere Valley and the other houses in the village.
With six rooms, each with their own ensuite, Viv's house works as an intimate space for couples or individuals or a wonderful base for larger groups.
Three of the rooms have small kitchens, perfect for longer stays and those who wish to self-cater. Viv and Will generally supply breakfast and occasionally guests pitch in for a BBQ dinner. There are also many lovely restaurants and cafes a five minute walk away in Urgup or you can venture further afield on a short drive to other villages.
Urgup is a working village rather than a tourist village, so you can meet the hospitable locals and experience the real Turkish way of life.
Urgup is just one of the many villages in Cappadocia, a region famous for its cone-shaped rock formations or 'fairy chimneys'. It is worth spending 4-5 days in the area and renting a car to explore as there is so much to see and do. The ballooning in Cappadocia is the best in the world and flying over the surreal landscape provides a majestic overview of the region.
Walking around the town is another fantastic way to explore. Viv starts each day with an early morning walk while the balloons are up which you are welcome to join.
